State Auto Car Insurance Coverage

When you buy State Auto insurance, you can combine standard coverage with various options to create a coverage plan that fits your personal or business needs. Its key coverage options include:

  • Liability. Coverage includes bodily injury and property damage for which you are legally responsible.
  • Medical Payments. This coverage pays medical bills incurred by you or others involved in a claim. It covers any doctor, surgical, or hospital expenses, no matter who is at fault.
  • Personal Injury Protection. This is also called “no fault insurance,” and it covers things like medical expenses as well as other costs, such as wages lost in connection with an accident.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage. If you are the victim of a hit-and-run accident or one with a driver who is inadequately insured, this coverage pays for bodily harm.
  • Collision Coverage. This covers damage to your vehicle caused by an accident.
  • Comprehensive/Coverage for Things Other than Collision. This covers damage to your vehicle from causes other than accident, theft, or natural disaster.

In addition to key coverage, there are a number of optional add ons that can complement your existing State Auto coverage. Some examples are roadside assistance, accident forgiveness, OEM parts coverage, and some State Auto trademark options, like AutoXtended® Coverage and Total Loss Plus.

How to File a Car Insurance Claim With State Auto

If you’ve been in an accident or have suffered damage to your vehicle, the most important thing is safety. Once you’re safe, it helps to know how to submit a claim online. Here are some steps to follow:

  1. Avoid any discussion with other parties in the accident over insurance policy coverage or who is at fault. Instead, call the police right away.
  2. If you can do it without compromising your safety, take pictures of the accident showing the surroundings and any damage to vehicles or property.
  3. Collect the details you’ll need for your claim, such as the year, make, model, and license plate of any vehicles involved in the accident.
  4. While not discussing details of the accident, attempt to exchange contact information, such as names, phone numbers, and email addresses of those involved and witnesses to what happened. Include insurance information.
  5. You can report your claim online, on the phone, or through the State Auto 360® mobile app. Make sure to have your policy number, date of the accident, VIN, mileage, and the photos and information you gathered at the scene handy. If you have a preferred service center or repair facility in mind, have their contact info on hand as well.

By following these steps, you help State Auto process your claim as efficiently as possible.
