Affordable choice are with Erie and Harleysville. Each queried at $898 and $902 respectfully for full coverage. And more than 40% cheaper than the average premium for drivers in Pennsylvania.

Who has the Cheapest Auto Insurance in Pennsylvania?

Below is a table list of insurers from the cheapest to the most costly.

Overall the least expensive carrier in Pennsylvania is Erie.

With quotes 22% to 34% lower than the “mean” quote in the state.

The second best option is with Harleysville. Now owned by Nationwide.

When I did my queries for quotes they were 22% to 30% lower than the average premium.

Depending your location, Amica is another good option.

They can offer quotes from 18% to 24% cheaper than the median rate for similar age drivers.

Two other carriers which do well in various cities across Pennsylvania are Donegal Mutual and Auto-Owners.

Both can offer quotes from 17% to 23% lower than the “mean” quote for drivers.

Three other companies which didn’t fair so well overall, but did well in various cities, are General Casualty, Hartford, and State Farm.

In some locations General Casualty offered the cheapest car insurance quotes.

Hartford and State Farm can offer quotes 14% lower then the median rate.

Bodily Injury Liability

The minimum cover is $15,000 for injuries to a single person and up to $30,000 for multiple passengers concerned in the accident.

These are the minimum requirements for the state, but the maximum the insurer will pay.

Least expensive policy prices by insurer for 40 y/o drivers.Note: A 40 year old with a good driving record can find quotes over 41% lower than the average premium for drivers in Pennsylvania. Quotes clustered between $768 and $804. The least expensive is Erie and the highest is Donegal Mutual. All carriers illustrated are worth getting quotes from.

Property Damage Liability

The minimum cover is $5,000 for repairs to any property which may have been damage in the accident.

These items are places of business, stop signs, or traffic lights. This coverage will pay up to the maximum amount for the other driver’s automobile.

In insurance terms, the minimum coverage is 15/30/5 which the numbers are always represented by thousands and are the same as mentioned above respectfully.

Medical Expenses

The state of Pennsylvania requires drivers to have a minimum amount of medical coverage benefits in the amount of $5,000.

This will cover for injuries you may have incurred during the accident and to any of your passengers.

It is important to note many drivers get only the minimum cover if they have a health insurance policy, but you would want to consult with your health and/or broker to be sure your health coverage plan will extend to all the passengers.

If your health coverage doesn’t you may want to increase the limit of medical cover on your policy.
